Shape Category A
Images in category A have a height-to-width ratio of 4:5, which is the shape of 4 x 5" and 8 x 10" large format film sheets.

Shape Category D
Images in category D have a height-to-width ratio of 1:1, which is to say that they are square. Instagram has recently made square images common again, but square images were originally known for the 6x6cm medium format film shot with Hasselblad cameras, as well as a few twin-lens reflex cameras made by companies like Rolleiflex and Mamiya.
